Are you a top-tier lionfish hunter? Would you love to spend 4 days offshore on a liveaboard dive boat hunting lionfish for research with some of the best lionfish hunters and scientists in the world?

Flower Gardens Banks National Marine Sanctuary Lionfish Invitational
Removing invasive lionfish is important for the health of our reefs. But, while other locations host derbies to accomplish much of this, Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary hosts Lionfish Invitationals. These are four-day research expeditions during which 11 dive teams work to remove as many lionfish as possible, while also recording helpful data on lionfish activity and sightings. In addition, a science team of 8 divers conducts surveys to determine what species, quantities and sizes of fish are present at each designated site before and after the removals.

We have scheduled two trips for the 2019 season:
June 9-13, 2019
August 25-29, 2019
Applications(click here for link to application) for the trips are now available. Completed applications must be submitted by Friday, March 15, 2019. Selected applicants will be notified no later than March 22, 2019.
